Community Convos
Exploring mindfulness, connection, and growth
CALM Convos is a free program for TCU students, faculty, and staff who want to build more balance, focus, and meaning into their lives.
Each week, participants can sign up for a private one-on-one conversation that blends thoughtful dialogue with simple practices like mindfulness, deep breathing, or guided meditation.
These sessions offer space to slow down, reflect, and explore what matters to you—helping you feel more connected, resilient, and grounded in your daily life.
The techniques used are rooted in research and have been shown to support emotional well-being, clarity, and personal growth over time.
Director of CALM Convos
Susan Sparks, MS, LPC
Susan Sparks is a licensed professional counselor with over 15 years of dedicated contemplative practice and a strong background in mental health and holistic wellness. As Director of CALM Convos, she brings a warm, grounded approach that blends psychological insight with mindfulness-based tools to support students in finding clarity, balance, and personal growth.
Susan holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Kinesiology and Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington (2018), and a Master of Science in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University (2021). She is also a certified 200-hour yoga teacher through the Mount Madonna Institute, a training that informs her therapeutic style with deep mind-body awareness.
In addition to her role at TCU, Susan maintains a private counseling practice at Keller Child and Family Therapy, where she works with individuals ages 10 through adulthood.
Her background in counseling, contemplative practice, and holistic healing makes her uniquely qualified to lead CALM Convos—a program designed to help participants slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves through one-on-one mindful conversation, breath work, and other contemplative methods.
